Sitting in my chair staring at so many business cards spread out on top of my desk, I feel overwhelmed by the daunting task ahead. In all honesty, it is going to be a “labor of love.” Gathering all the cards at least was! I attended one of the larger industry tastings the other day. Not only were there so many wines, but there were so many GREAT wines. As someone committed to staying in touch with as many wineries as possible and trying them as well, this was step one in that “labor of love.”
With well over 500 wines, I knew that trying them all was impossible, especially for a non-spitter like me. Fortunately, I arrived early, not a surprise for those that know me, so I could scrutinize the list and scope out wines that I didn’t want to miss. (Actually, that happened as I took the train into the city as I don’t like driving.) The rest of the wines would have to go undrunk.
No surprise, again to those that know me, that EVERY ONE of those I highlighted were of considerable pedigree and considerable price! On the top end retailing $300 or more and then tapering off to maybe $20, that being a delicious Sauvignon Blanc (that ended up as my love of Sauv Blanc had to represent!).
What’s step two? Organizing my thoughts and reviewing my notes to see how best to present as many of those exceptional wines and experiences as I can. Of course, making each post as entertaining to you as well!
So stay tuned to future editions of “Wine Tasting Tell All” for what is sure to be, at least for me, a “Labor of Love!”
