So a little over two weeks ago I dropped my post “I’m Back In The Saddle, Again!” Proclaiming my thunderous return to the world of wine and wine tastings, both industry and wine shop pouring events.
Back then I knew I would be pouring, just so happens to be this coming Saturday, what I didn’t know, but have since discovered, is that this tasting is featuring, wait for it, Sparkling wines, of all things!
This is no small discovery! I LOVE CHAMPAGNE!!
What makes this event even more spectacular is that I have three French Champagnes that I will be pouring along with a sparkling from the Jura region of France and sparkling Vouvray from the Loire and an English Sparkling. It’s the three Champagnes however that have me so stoked!
From the house that Pierre Peters built, and comprised of all Chardonnay grapes, I have the Cuvee de Reserve Blanc de Blanc. Grower Champagne comprised of 100% Grand Cru grapes near Epernay. Also Grand Cru and Grower Champagne from Henri Billiot, the Brut Rosé from their vineyards near Ambonnay, comprised of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay and finally another Grower Champagne from Rilly-la-Montagne, comes the Vilmart & Cie Grand Cellier Brut. 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir using Premiere Cru grapes.
All three have attained scores of 92 in recent reviews, but for me, that has little meaning. What is more memorable is that Pierre Peters is one that holds a special place in my memory. Travel to a romantic location, dinner at an exquisite restaurant and Champagne from Pierre Peters. Least I not mention, I was not alone!
So alone with my memories and looking forward to tomorrow, this seems fitting, for me anyway, that this is a good time to end this post. So I will say Au revoir.
