With all due respect to Gene Autry (the youngin’s out there may have to Google that name) and, even more surprisingly even for me, Aerosmith (yes, they have a song called “Back in the Saddle Again”), and a nod to myself (I used this phrase once before in a blog a little less than a year ago in my “Wine Tasting Tell All” section and a review of some Ramey wines, I just love that phrase, it just never gets old, at least for me!
So what’s the big deal this time?
So I haven’t poured at a wine tasting in well over a month. Big deal right? For me it is. The excitement of researching the wines I’m tasting out, meeting old and new like-minded individuals who come to try the wines and spewing tons of information at them whether they want to hear it or not. Most of the time they do!
I know the first part of the year is slow unless you’re one of the many people I see from Instagram who lives near wine growing areas that can hop in their car and go to tastings almost anytime they wish. A note, attending isn’t the same as pouring. Not better or worse, just different. I love both but pouring is where my heart lies. After a comment like that, each time it hits me that “I really need to get a life!”
Oh well, onward and upward I say.
I guess I still haven’t explained the IBITSA (short for I’m Back In The Saddle Again – I don’t want to keep typing that out should I use it again in this post). So I’m sitting at my computer, the phone rings (did I ever tell you that I use Blondie’s song “Call Me” for my ringtone? Seemed appropriate to me) and I answer it (that’s what most people do, especially when I saw it coming from someone I knew and was in the wine biz). A couple quick pleasantries exchanged and the next thing was the question of could I do a tasting for him in about three weeks. A little far out there, but not only yes, but heck yes (remember I try not to swear too much)!
THEN, within the hour I just happened to be checking an industry site for some wine information and “WHAM” (since I’ve been using songs and artists, I’m not referring to the group in this situation) I see an industry tasting that’s happening within a few days. Be still my beating heart (I guess I should give credit for the song by that name by Sting?).
So there you have it! My resurgence, nay, my rising like The Phoenix (shout out to Fall Out Boy). Once again secure in the knowledge that 2019 will return me to fame and stardom. A little much? Maybe just so people see my face again? Better.
